How the service works
A specialist process planned around your kitchen
The construction, existing coating and condition are checked first. Preparation is then adapted to the surface, including abrasion or sanding where it is actually needed.
Assessment and quotation
David inspects the doors, drawer fronts, fixed sections and existing finish before confirming suitability and providing a written quotation.
Careful removal
David removes the cupboard doors and drawer fronts himself and transports them to the workshop. You do not need to remove or deliver them.
Workshop and on-site finishing
The removable parts are prepared and hand-finished in the workshop. Fixed frames, end panels and plinths are prepared and painted at the property.
Refitting and final checks
Once the finish is ready, David returns the doors and drawer fronts, refits them carefully and checks the completed kitchen.
Kitchens that may be suitable
Many existing cupboard types can be repainted
Material matters, but condition matters just as much. David assesses every kitchen rather than assuming that all doors made from one material will perform in the same way.
- Solid timber kitchens including pine, ash, maple and other stable timber doors.
- Sound MDF including many manufactured and factory-painted kitchen doors and panels.
- Suitable plywood including sound handmade or bespoke cupboard doors.
- Previously painted and factory-finished units where the existing surface remains stable and suitable for preparation.
- Some vinyl or plastic-wrapped MDF doors where the failing covering can be removed and the MDF beneath remains sound enough to repaint.
Colours and finishes
Choose a colour that belongs in your home
Colours can be mixed to work with references from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Dulux, as well as RAL colours. The finish is available in matt, satin or eggshell.
Kitchen Cupboard Painters uses a specially mixed, durable water-based paint system, with selected water-based additives used where appropriate to support adhesion and application.
A colour reference identifies the chosen shade; it does not necessarily mean that the named colour manufacturer's own paint is used.

Before you enquire
Can my existing kitchen cupboards be repainted?
Many sound timber, MDF, plywood, previously painted and suitable factory-finished cupboards can be repainted. David checks the construction, surface and stability before confirming whether the kitchen is suitable.
Are the cupboards spray painted?
No. David hand-finishes the cupboards using small rollers and brushes as part of a carefully built, multi-coat water-based system.
Are the doors and drawer fronts removed?
Yes. David carefully removes them and takes them to the workshop. The fixed frames, end panels, plinths and other non-removable parts are prepared and painted at your property.
Can the existing handles be changed?
It may be possible, but it depends on the existing holes and the hole centres of the proposed replacement handles. A change that requires filling and redrilling does not always give the neatest result, so it is best discussed during the assessment.
