A specialist service, locally delivered

A new colour for a sound kitchen without replacing its familiar layout

From period homes in Jesmond and Gosforth to family kitchens around Ponteland, Morpeth and the Tyne Valley, many well-built cupboards can be transformed while retaining the layout, storage and character that already suit the property.

The service covers suitable solid timber, painted MDF, handmade plywood and certain factory-finished kitchens. Every enquiry begins with an assessment of the kitchen's construction, condition and existing surface.

Most preparation, coating and drying work is completed away from the property. Only the fixed frames, end panels, plinths and other non-removable parts need to be finished in position.

Kitchen types

The condition of the whole kitchen determines what is possible

A particular material may often be paintable, but its edges, joints, coatings and exposure to moisture still need to be checked.

Solid timber

Pine, ash, maple and other sound timbers can often be given a completely different appearance.

Factory-painted MDF

Sound manufactured doors and panels are commonly suitable where their edges and coatings remain stable.

Wrapped MDF

When a plastic covering has bubbled or lifted, it may sometimes be possible to remove it and professionally prepare the sound MDF beneath.

Previously painted

The existing finish must remain firmly attached and be compatible with the required preparation and coating system.

Common questions

Before making your Newcastle or Northumberland enquiry

Who should I contact first?

Begin with David using the main Kitchen Cupboard Painters enquiry form. Once the initial details have been received, our local tradesperson covering Newcastle and Northumberland will be in touch to discuss your kitchen.

How much does professional kitchen cupboard painting cost?

A typical complete kitchen project is around £4,750. The exact written quotation depends on the kitchen's size, construction, condition, preparation requirements and colour change. Use the full price guide for further guidance.

Can a dark timber kitchen be painted a light colour?

Often it can, provided the doors, drawer fronts and fixed units are sound. A large colour change affects preparation and the finishing system, so the existing surface must be assessed first.

Can bubbling plastic coverings be removed?

Sometimes. If the covering can be removed cleanly and the MDF beneath remains sound, the underlying doors may be suitable for specialist preparation and repainting. Moisture-swollen or damaged MDF may not be suitable.

Can the handles be changed?

It may be possible, particularly when new handles use the existing holes. Different hole centres can require filling and redrilling and do not always give the neatest result, so proposed changes should be discussed during the assessment.
