Professional kitchen cupboard painting for the three towns and nearby villages

If you like the quality and layout of your existing kitchen, repainting can transform its colour and character without replacing sound cabinetry.

David removes the cupboard doors and drawer fronts himself and takes them to the workshop for careful preparation and hand-finishing. The frames, end panels, plinths and other fixed sections are completed at the property.

Every kitchen is assessed individually before a written quotation is provided. For this service area, David can often discuss an initial guide price from your details and photographs before arranging the visit.

A careful alternative to replacement

Keep a well-built kitchen and change the part you see every day

A sound kitchen may still have the right layout, storage and quality even though its timber colour or older factory finish no longer suits the room.

Professional repainting retains the existing cupboard doors, drawer fronts and fixed furniture while giving the kitchen a completely different appearance.

Kitchen Cupboard Painters began in North Yorkshire, where David developed the careful hand-finishing system used for the service today. Every kitchen is considered individually because the construction, condition and previous finish determine what is possible.

Suited to established kitchens

Older character can be retained while the colour is completely changed

Framed timber kitchens, sound factory-painted units, vinyl-wrapped MDF and bespoke cupboards can all retain value when their construction remains good.

Deep greens, soft stone colours, warm neutrals and traditional off-whites can change the way the kitchen feels without replacing cabinetry that still works well.

Kitchens David may assess include Poggenpohl, Mark Wilkinson, deVOL and Howdens, as well as handmade, hand-built and other manufactured kitchens. The name on the kitchen matters less than the material, stability and present condition.

Handles may sometimes be changed when new fittings suit the existing holes. When hole centres differ, filling and redrilling does not always produce the neatest result, so any change is best discussed before work begins.

From enquiry to completion

A clear process with most hand-finishing completed off-site

Initial conversation

David reviews the enquiry, looks at any photographs and calls to discuss the kitchen. Where helpful, he can also give an initial guide price.

Assessment and written quotation

David visits to check suitability, measure the work and confirm exactly what is included.

Careful removal and workshop finishing

Doors and drawer fronts are labelled, removed and prepared away from the kitchen.

Fixed sections and refitting

Frames, end panels and plinths are completed at the property before the finished parts are refitted and checked.

Kitchen types

The surface and condition determine what is possible

Most established kitchen types can be considered. David checks the whole kitchen rather than assuming every cupboard made from a particular material will be suitable.

Solid timber

Pine, ash, maple and other stable timbers can often be given a completely different character.

Factory-painted MDF

Sound manufactured doors and panels are commonly suitable when their edges and coatings remain stable.

Vinyl-wrapped MDF

If the plastic film has bubbled or lifted but the MDF beneath remains sound, the wrap can often be removed before the doors are prepared and repainted in your chosen colour.

Hand-built and previously finished

Sound plywood, bespoke cupboards, previous paint and suitable factory coatings can all be assessed for repainting.

Common questions

Before arranging a Wetherby, Boston Spa or Tadcaster quotation

How much does kitchen cupboard painting cost in this area?

Professional kitchen cupboard repainting in this service area starts from £1,450. The actual cost depends on size, construction, condition, fixed sections and the intended colour change. David confirms the price in a written quotation after assessing the kitchen.

Can David give a guide price before visiting?

Often, yes. Clear photographs and a few details can help David discuss an initial guide price by telephone. The final price is confirmed in writing after he has assessed the construction, surfaces, condition and full extent of the kitchen.

Can bubbled plastic-wrapped doors be repainted?

They can often be repainted when the vinyl or plastic film can be removed cleanly and the MDF beneath is sound. David checks for moisture swelling, damaged edges and unstable areas before recommending the work.

Are the cupboard doors sprayed?

No. David uses a controlled hand-finishing system with small rollers and brushes, normally involving five to eight coats of durable water-based products selected for the particular kitchen.

Can handles be changed?

Sometimes, particularly when new fittings match the existing hole centres. Where they do not match, filling and redrilling may not give the neatest result, so any proposed change should be discussed before work begins.
