Kitchen Cupboard Painters ยท York
Kitchen cupboard painting across York
Keep a kitchen layout that already works and give sound cupboard doors, drawer fronts and fixed units a professionally hand-finished new colour.
A careful alternative to replacement
A fresh appearance without replacing a sound York kitchen
Across York, many homeowners are happy with the size, storage and arrangement of their existing kitchen but no longer like its timber colour or older painted finish.
Professional repainting retains the doors, drawer fronts and layout that already suit the room. David assesses the construction and condition before quoting because a durable finish depends on the stability of the underlying kitchen, not simply the colour chosen.
Suitable kitchens can include solid pine, ash and maple, sound MDF, well-made plywood, previously painted cupboards and certain stable factory finishes. The finish is applied by hand using small rollers and brushes rather than sprayed as a quick two-coat covering.
A genuine example of an existing kitchen transformed through professional repainting.

How the work is organised
Most of the work happens away from your kitchen
Most preparation, coating and drying takes place in the workshop, reducing fuss and the amount of time spent working inside the property.
Assessment and quotation
David visits, checks suitability, discusses the intended colour and confirms what the written quotation includes.
Careful removal
Cupboard doors and drawer fronts are removed and transported to the workshop.
Preparation and hand-finishing
The removable parts are prepared and coated off-site while the fixed sections are completed at the property.
Refitting and final check
The finished doors and drawer fronts are returned, carefully refitted and checked.
Kitchen types
The surface and condition determine what is possible
The following materials are frequently suitable, but David checks each kitchen individually before recommending repainting.
Solid timber
Pine, ash, maple and other stable timbers can often be given a completely different character.
Factory-painted MDF
Sound manufactured doors and panels are commonly suitable when their edges and coatings remain stable.
Older plywood
Well-constructed handmade plywood doors may be suitable after their condition has been checked.
Previously painted
Existing coatings must remain firmly attached and be compatible with the preparation and finishing system.
Common questions
Before arranging a York quotation
How much does kitchen cupboard painting cost?
The final price depends on the kitchen's size, construction, condition, preparation requirements and colour change. The price guide provides an initial indication, followed by a firm written quotation after assessment.
Can my existing handles be changed?
It may be possible, particularly when the new fittings match the existing hole centres. Where they do not match, filling and redrilling can make achieving a neat result more difficult, so it is best discussed during the assessment.
How much of the work takes place in my kitchen?
Approximately 90% of the work is completed away from the property. Only the fixed frames, end panels, plinths and other non-removable sections need to be prepared and painted in the kitchen, reducing disruption and the time spent working inside your home.
Are the cupboard doors sprayed?
No. David uses a controlled hand-finishing system with small rollers and brushes, normally involving five to eight coats of durable, water-based products selected for the particular kitchen.
Is every part of York covered by this page?
This page covers York city centre and the south, west, north, east and rural-west groups listed above. David can confirm practical arrangements when discussing the kitchen and property location.
